General Meeting of the European Nail Society

1. Approval of the minutes of the last General Meeting in London.
Approved without comments.



2. MEMBERS
Since our last meeting, we have welcomed 6 new members:
Melissa Daniel (USA), Pier Alessandro Fanti and Cosimo Misciali (Italy), Dimitri Rigopoulos (Greece), Glaysson Tassara (Brazil), Vijay Zawar (India).
We have now 75 members.

4. ENS FUTURE MEETINGS
(a) ENS meeting at the EADV in Vienna
  • Due to the World Congress the EADV Congress will be held in Spring 2007.
  • Because the meeting in Vienna is too close to the meeting in Rhodes, we have decided to have only a half-day session (16/5/07 from 11 am to 15 pm) with light lunch. Place will be announced in due time.
  • The programme of the meeting will be: mistake session, video on nail surgery and discussion on difficult clinical cases.

(b) Joint session with the CND at the World Congress in Buenos Aires.
  • The meeting will take place at the Sheraton Hotel, Sunday September 30, i.e. the day prior the opening ceremony of the congress.
  • It will be a 4-hour meeting. Exact time will be announced.
  • The topic will be e-nail clinic for the 2 hours dedicated to the ENS.
  • The CND will announce what they want to discuss.



5. ENS-WEBSITE - http://www.euronailsociety.org
We will soon up date our web site, hoping in Jan 2007. It will be linked to the EADV website. The Society will pay someone to take care of it.



6. NEWSLETTER
This year, Dr. Bianca Maria Piraccini was in charge of the ENS Newsletter. We will not have any newsletter in Vienna, but we will have a booklet with newsletter in Buenos Aires. She will take care of it once again.



7. GRANTS
Dr.Vijay Zawar presented this year his study supported by a grant given from our Society in 2004.
For the next year the Board Members have decided to sponsor 3 projects:
  • Cromonychia during chemotherapy: long-term follow up (Supervisor: R. Baran)
  • New tools for the diagnosis of nail disorders (Supervisor: A. Tosti)
  • Nail changes in smokers (Supervisor: D. de Berker)
For each project, the amount will be 1000 euros and the participants should not exceed 40 years of age.
The projects will be advertised in different dermatological journals and on the ENS website. Dr. Matilde Iorizzo will be in charge of collecting the applications.



8. STATUTE
Below, please find all the statute modifications that have been decided:
  • ordinary members (medical doctors from Europe) and extraordinary members (medical doctors from outside Europe) will have the right to vote.
  • no more than 2 extraordinary members can sit on the Board.
  • the President, Vice-President and Secretary are elected for 2 years with one possible renewal within 8 years. However they can be re-elected for another position on the Board if necessary.
  • 2/5 of the Board Members can be indefinitely eligible.
  • the Treasurer must be a belgian member since the society has its home in Belgium. He can stay on the board indefinitely, so long as the other Board Members agree to re-elect him every 2 years.
  • if a Board Member does not turn up at 2 consecutive meetings, he could be asked to leave the Board.
  • life-time membership will be possible on request for members over 47-years old.
